At the beginning there is the love for the cities , for travels , for mixtures of culture and music . As an architect I discovered mosaic by chance , meeting a craftman for a small project of a fountain . He was manufacturing amazing decor for luxurious palaces in a fifteen square meters studio . I was fascinated by his « savoir faire « , by the possibilities of his work that he transmitted to me , by the splendor of the materials we are using now : vitreous glass , gold leaves , venetian smalties and precious marbles.
Our approach to mosaic is a bit iconoclast ,keeping some distance from the forms of academicism . Our sources of inspiration : nature, water, light, travel for sure but also modern and contemporary art.
Everything seems possible and the variety of themes endless , just a question of time certainly and some hands skill.
First the drawing , the design and the samples and the dialogue with the interior designers , then comes the manufacturing in our studios with the same great team for so many years . And more recently Kautar Larif joined us to co-manage our company.
Finally the most exciting moment is when , on site , the tiler peels of the paper after the fixing and we discover the mosaic in its place , the result of hundreds of hours of work , just like the preview of a collection for a fashion designer.
We are so grateful to this craft allowing us to create and manufacture constantly new projects , discovering new places and participating in amazing design projects all over the world and sharing our time between the 3 cities we love the most : Paris where we create and do the samples , London where we had our Kensington square show-room for 25 years and Barcelona where we moved our show room and manufacture now.
